When the cop . . .
Tough-as-nails detective Bonni Connolly is on a girls' Vegas getaway with her college friends, when she hits the jackpot. Taking advantage of her gift from Lady Luck, Bonni upgrades their trip for a once-in-a-lifetime experience in luxury and glamour. Seizing the opportunity to break out from her normal (formal) cop style, she splurges on a slinky designer dress and a VIP booth in an exclusive club. That's when she sees him, and Bonni decides there's another once-in-a-lifetime thing she wants to have: a vacation fling.
Meets the gambler . . .
Professional poker player Quinn Bryant is in town for one of the largest tournaments of the year and (as always) he plans to win. Determined to start off his vacation by getting lucky, he heads to his favorite club, where he spots Bonni across the dance floor. Fortune smiles on him when Bonni picks up the cards he puts down. However, what starts as a Vegas hook-up soon turns into something more, as Bonni learns to see the man behind the poker face.
The stakes have never been higher.
Even though Bonni's trip has an end date and there is another tournament calling Quinn's name, their strong connection overcomes their difference and they start to wonder if what happens in Vegas doesn't have to stay there.
This is one of those light reads sometimes you just need. A trip with your besties, an unexpected win, and a handsome man you would not have imagined hitting on you because, seriously, what are the chances? But when that happens, it most certainly brings your getaway to a totally different level.
When you prioritise your work and relationship is not a word you think of too often, like in Bonni’s case, you don’t easily let your guard down. Then your fun night out with your chatty friends makes you think that, really, what hurt can possibly come from loosen up a bit for once? It’s going to be nothing more than one night stand, right? . . . RIGHT? Meet Quinn and then tell me if you wouldn’t want a second night. Day. Date. Life with?
Up for a fast read with an interesting setting like the world of a professional poker player? You’re up for a nice treat with this rom-com then, it will put a smile on your face and make you dream of a stroke of luck. After all, it’s Vegas, baby!
I’ve never been to Vegas. Sounds fun!
I’ve been in Vegas a bit over decade ago and it was pure hell outside . . . SO v-e-r-y HOT! But it was something to see at night 😉
I love a good rom com! I don’t think that I have read anything with a poker player as the Hero. Glad you enjoyed it!
First time I read a book with one in it, too. It was refreshing and also quite interesting, definitely glad I gave it a go!
Oh you gotta love a light rom-com read just to lighten the mood 🙂 Quinn sounds interesting!! And what does a detective do when she lets her guard down?? how does that go against her natural instincts… so many questions already 🙂
Great review Silvia 😉
I know, right? Quinn is pretty interesting, indeed, hehe! And, I must say, having a Rom-Com at hand never hurts 😉
I have to say, this sounds really good. I’ve always wanted to go to Vegas! Great review!
This could be your chance to have a peek at it 🙂
What a lovely read!
Yes, if I had a stroke of luck I, too, would splurge a little and take advantage of opportunities… Glad you enjoyed this light rom-com!
You don’t say, bestie! Hehe, I’m sure you would enjoy this read!
Oh the setting is interesting there!
It really is, I found it quite refreshing.
This sounds like exactly the right kind of light hearted fun that’s a perfect pick-me-up!
That’s a good way to describe it, Verushka!
Thanks for the review sounds like an exciting escape!
My pleasure, always happy to point interesting reading escapes to fellow book lovers 🙂
