Blood Mate, a dark fairy tale . . .
Nicole has been happily married to big shot attorney, Dominic Rose for ten years, but soon after their anniversary he grows cold—as if she doesn’t exist. Meanwhile, another man has been pursuing her far too intently for comfort.
August Corinth is a six-hundred-year-old vampire, cursed to kill and suffer the pain of his victims each night until he can find the one woman who can resist his thrall, his blood mate. Once he’s found her, there are no lines he won’t cross to claim the promised salvation even if it means taking away everything and everyone she loves.

Usually Kitty Thomas’ characters drive me crazy in many unexpected ways, and I mean that in the most insanely good way possible, but here I felt like they all were missing to deliver their charm and charisma. Was there someone I hated in particular? Someone I liked the most? A character at least I sympathized with? I’m afraid I couldn’t find any kind of attachment or feel a sort of sympathy for anyone. Sometimes their actions seemed rushed and so was the writing. Too bad because the story is there, but I feel like a bit more of background to emphasise the curse and a better character development would have been helpful to build a stronger connection.

This, of course, won’t stop me from reading Kitty Thomas’ next releases. I perfectly know this author can amaze me and make my mind wander over and over for days—if not weeks—with her stories. Unfortunately, this book just didn’t have the desired effect on me.

Ai. sorry to hear this one didn't really work out so well this time round. the story does sound like it had a lot of potential. At least she has many more amazing books to make up for this hit & miss 🙂

  2. That has been the main problem for me, because of this 'indifference' I couldn't bring myself to quite care about how the events turned out… A shame, but I read and enjoyed so many stories from this author that I won't give up!
