WHEN A MASKED MAN . . .
Twenty years ago Maximus Batten witnessed the brutal murders of his parents. Now the autocratic Duke of Wakefield, he spends his days ruling Parliament. But by night, disguised as the Ghost of St. Giles, he prowls the grim alleys of St. Giles, ever on the hunt for the murderer. One night he finds a fiery woman who meets him toe-to-toeโ€”and won't back down . . .
MEETS HIS MATCH . . .
Artemis Greaves toils as a lady's companion, but hiding beneath the plain brown serge of her dress is the heart of a huntress. When the Ghost of St. Giles rescues her from footpads, she recognizes a kindred spirit-and is intrigued. She's even more intrigued when she realizes who exactly the notorious Ghost is by day . . .
DESIRE IGNITES A DANGEROUS PASSION
Artemis makes a bold move: she demands that Maximus use his influence to free her imprisoned brother-or she will expose him as the Ghost. But blackmailing a powerful duke isn't without risks. Now that she has the tiger by the tail, can she withstand his ire-or the temptation of his embrace?

Probably my favourite instalment so far, Duke of Midnight was a ravishing read that certainly made the temperature rise, and it also touched my heart . . .

Artemis is a great heroine with a hard background that has given her the strong personality she grounds out whenever the situation requires it. She goes through a lot and, even when the situation seems desperate, she doesn’t give up but keeps fighting. She is surely to admire and no doubt she’s a perfect match for Maximus. Those two take every step in a relationship, which is very refreshing and actually one of my favourite things together with Maximus’ special way to refer to Artemis . . . Sigh, Maximus. Every time he ‘has his way’, you can only melt . . . Be warned, sexual tension will lead you to some of the most beautiful, passionate love scenes you could have ever hope for!

Hoyt always wonderfully puts the most sensational of the emotions into words, making her characters outstanding, her plots unpredictable and her books unputdownable, just like Duke of Midnight. Enticing and heartbreaking, another addictive story written by an amazing historical romance author!

This sounds like a great read and good series if it is at #6 already ๐Ÿ™‚ Artemis and Maximus sound swoon-worthy. Do these books work as stand alone's or do you need to read the entire series? So happy this book was amazing for you!!

  2. To be completely honest, it would be better to read them in order, to feel an even deeper connection with the characters and to have a clear picture of every connection. You learn a bit more about everyone in each instalment and those in the background are as much important as the ones under the spotlight in that moment… You get a hint of who's going to be next every time and sometimes you hope someone's turn is going to come sooner rather than later, because that's the kind of charm those characters have, heroes and heroines both. So, I'd go add book #1 and then enjoy every other instalment in the series, one of my personal fave historical romances ever! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ooh, I love historical romance, Silvia and I haven't read a good one in a long time. I've never read Hoyt but I'm going to check out this series since you enjoyed it so well. And I LOVE their names…Artemis and Maximus sound like a great couple.

  4. I absolutely love historical romances, and Duke of Midnight sounds really, really good. I story that can touch my heart and also make me all hot and bothered is pretty close to perfect, just as your five ratings show it was for you as well, Silvia.

I'm going to check out this series. Thanks for sharing ๐Ÿ™‚
