Life of a Blogger: Best Childhood Memory

Life of a Blogger is a weekly feature hosted by Jessi @ Novel Heartbeat.
Let’s talk about non-bookish topics, so we get to know each other on a more personal level.

This week’s topic: BEST CHILDHOOD MEMORY

I’ve spent most of my childhood with my grandparents—on mum’s side—so I would say that my best childhood memories are with them. Don’t get me wrong, my mum has always been a constant presence in my life, very attentive and she surely spent a huge amount of time with me—if she could, she would be here 24/7. Still, she also had to work, hence the inevitable, strong and amazing bond with my grandparents 🙂

Nevertheless, everyone is a winner because I have a Top 3 including them all, HA!

  1. Dancing with Mum. We had a stereo on a big shelf in the aisle and she used to put some music on, mostly Springsteen—whose music she said she made me listen to since I was in her womb—every day. I can see it like it was yesterday, the two of us laughing and dancing like there was no care in the world. That was priceless, something we both needed and the best feeling ever!
  2. Watching old movies with Grandma. It’s not the first time I mention this on my blog, so some of you may have seen this one coming, huh? Yes, it’s one of my best memories not only because it’s related to my studies, but because it was fun and it got me so damn passionate about dreaming of wonderful stories! Not to mention my very first actors crushes, such as Gene Kelly, Cary Grant . . . *sigh*
  3. Fishing with Grandpa. Every Summer he would bring me with him on his inflatable boat off to the sea. It was just the two of us for a few hours a day, fishing, talking and sometimes simply being silent and enjoy the magic of the sea. I couldn’t have asked for a more genuine time to spend in his company.

You see, I can’t give up any of these memories, and I surely wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world . . .

Those are some lovely memories, SIlvia! I remember you told me about #1 and #2, but I completely forgot you went fishing with your Grandpa.
This is a fantastic post, thanks for sharing these bits of your childhood with us.

We have this in common, Silvia. My mom worked and my grandparents lived close by. So I spent a huge part of my childhood with them. And most of my favorite childhood memories are from being with them. Makes me smile and tear up thinking of those days. Thanks for sharing your memories. 🙂

  3. I'm sorry about your grandparents, Alma… Mine have always been precious and since my grandpa passed away two years ago it's been really hard. I'm glad I have such beautiful memories with me 🙂

  4. Awww, you have lovely memories of your grandparents! You're very lucky. Mine passed away either before I was born, or when I was a baby. Thankfully, I have awesome parents, aunts, uncles and cousins who made up for it. I love hearing about others memories, even if I can't relate on the exact same level. Great post Sylvia! 🙂
