Sometimes angels fall.
Maddie doesn’t really owe drug lord, Carlos Castillo, money. So she hadn’t taken his threats seriously. Until now. He wants it, whether she owes it or not. And if she doesn’t have it in six weeks he’s gonna take her as payment instead.
Tyler would save the world if he could. That’s a fight that lasts forever. And if there’s one thing he’s good at, it’s fighting. So if Maddie thinks she’s gonna deal with an insane drug lord on her own, she’s crazier than he is.
She’s got a debt she can’t pay. He’s got more money than he needs. She’s not gonna fall for his charm. He’s gonna make sure that happens.
They’re destined to be together. Even if Maddie doesn’t know it yet.
Sometimes your soul mate isn’t who you’d choose, it’s who you need.
Good thing you don’t get to choose.

It’s a good thing we didn’t have to wait that long for this second book because the end of the first one surely left me biting my nails . . . The suspense was really killing me, so I dug into this new chapter quite greedily.

I’d like to say the plot thickens, but in all honesty I couldn’t find myself that surprised about the course of events. However, I wasn’t expecting to get a bit emotional on a couple of occasions, and I was caught off guard by an attachment to some minor characters. I liked that, especially considering one of the main ones feels a bit distant . . . I’m afraid I can’t make up my mind about Maddie, or really feel for her. Tyler is the strongest character in my opinion. He is a born entertainer, his thoughts, ramblings, and dreams—his image of God deserves an Oscar—never stop delivering quite the amusing laughs. Also, the little angel and devil almost always present on Maddie’s shoulders have officially assumed the form of Huss and McClain, but they alternate roles in my mind and I can’t distinguish who is who anymore. What do you know, I might need to ask Tyler for his therapist’s number.

Overall, this is a good addition to a story that got me intrigued from the start. Even if it didn’t hit me with the same force of the first book, my knees are still bouncing with impatience demanding Tyler more.
