SUMMARY
I am Anita Blake, vampire hunter and necromancer, and when I meet with Tony Bennington, who is desperate to have me reanimate his recently deceased wife, I feel sympathy for his lost. After all, I know something about love, and I know everything there is to know about loss. But I also know that what I can do as a necromancer isn’t the miracle Tony thinks he needs. The creature that I could coerce to step out of his late wife’s grave would not be the lovely Mrs Bennington. Not really. And not for long. I have been relaxing just a bit with the men in my private life. The affectionate warmth of being with them seems to bring out something softer in me, a sense of safety I can almost trust. They do love me; that part is for ever and for sure. But flirting with feeling safe is a dangerous thing…

MY REVIEW

This was a quick reading since it was a short novel, but let me say that I felt the same power of all the other books! In fact for me it’s not the length that makes a book better or worse, it’s what there’s inside. Action, suspence, the unexpected, three of many features that in Anita Blake’s world you can be sure you’ll always find and that made this book a pleasure to read.

I missed Jean-Claude… I have to say that every time he’s not in a book it’s hard… Am I the only one who wants to read about him even if just for a few pages? Probably not the case, but I had all my faves here so, I was able to deal with Jean-Claude’s absence, at least for now… And I found Nicky an interesting character. Maybe I shouldn’t sympathize with him much but I can’t control myself. Is it my fault if Anita always finds a handsome guy in the middle of the action?

RATING: 4/5

You are definitely not alone! I'm there with you with missing JC when he's not in the books! And I think I said something similar when reviewing this book about the length. I was afraid I wouldn't like it, but so far I've loved all Anita books, whether short or long. The only thing is that I always want them to be longer! Even when being 500+ pages. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great review! So glad you're still loving them, dear ASM!
