SUMMARY
My name is Anita Blake and I try very hard to live a normal life in St Louis—as normal as possible for someone who is a legal vampire executioner and a US Marshal. But then a vampire from my past reaches out. She was supposed to be dead, but the Mother of All Darkness is the first vampire, the dark creator, and it’s hard to kill a god. She believes that the triumvirate created by master vampire Jean-Claude with me and the werewolf Richard Zeeman has enough power for her to regain a body and to emigrate to the New World. But the body she wants to possess is already taken; I’m about to learn a whole new meaning to sharing my body, one that has nothing to do with the bedroom. And is she can’t succeed in taking over my body for herself, she means to see that no one else has the use of it, ever again…

MY REVIEW

There are almost all the characters we know, surely the one I love the most, some new and one in particular that probably could have been forgotten but not in my case, I asked myself about him often to be honest and that’s why for me it was a great pleasure reading a little bit about him! And speaking of characters, I’m disappointed about Asher. I haven’t liked his behavior for a while and I seriously don’t like it at all now. I can understand his complex but he sounds so childish about it sometimes and he’s very annoying… But, where Asher has changed for the worse, Richard has changed for the better! I wouldn’t say he’s the Richard we knew in the past, in fact I think he’s someone completely new, different, with a better attitude and OMG a man of action! Well Ulfric, about time! Should I declare my love for you is coming back, Richard? Uhmm, let’s just wait a little more, just to be sure…

This book is full of surprises, suspense and of course sex! I have to say I can’t see why people keep writing so many reviews complaining about it when sex is a foundamental key in Anita’s world. I’m ok with the fact that you like to read about a certain kind of sex or not but that’s not my point. What I’m trying to say is that yes, the books have changed since the very first ones but you should have understood that by now so, why keep reading this series if you can’t accept the fact that men have a bigger space than the job stuff? Why keep trying to find an old version of the story if it’s pretty clear that Laurell K. Hamilton won’t change all this because she’s happy with it? It’s a personal taste, of course, but when you decide to read a book like this you already know what you’re gonna find so, if you keep reading the series it’s because you really love the entire evolution or, in my personal opinion, you should have stopped a long time ago.

RATING: 4.5/5

  1. LOL, I've been wondering that too. If you hate the change and sex, then don't read and stop complaining. And the worst part is that there's never one Anita discussion, there's hating.

I was so disappointed in Asher for some things and surprised by Richard too. If I may be lazy and get my exact thoughts on them from my own review, since it was a while I read it, they went like this:

"This book was almost crazy with all of it's unexpected (and maybe expected) events and surprises. Some of them you could have foreseen, but some, I'll admit, took me completely by surprise. Asher's demands for one thing, and his threat if they weren't followed through. Personally, I was more annoyed by the issues and the slightly immature threat, but I can see where he is coming from. I was just with Anita on her reaction; I never saw it coming. Richard also surprised me with his acceptance. I don't trust it though, since it feels like there's been to little time for him to have accepted it all. It felt rushed and like he'd change back at any moment. I guess we'll see how it goes! He's not welcome back into my heart yet though, if he ever will be…"

    As always; great review!!
