ARE YOU BEAUTIFUL?
Young and rambunctious Belle insists on going out to play in the forbidden woods, but her adventurous streak abruptly ends when her mother is spirited away by a beast known to kidnap beautiful women. Twisted by the loss of his wife, Belle’s father keeps his daughter and her unusual violet hair locked away in an effort to “protect” her from prying eyes.
Years later, news of the beast’s reappearance coaxes Belle back to the woods where it all began—but her desperate search for the truth may be more perilous than she could have ever imagined . . .
Beauty and the Beast of Paradise Lost. That says it all, really. It’s impossible to not get enamoured with such a title! Then, even the catchy artwork on the cover plays its part well, don’t you agree?
Kaori Yuki uses her gothic style to turn one of the most beloved fairytales of all times into one of the darkest and twisted tales a reader would never expect . . . The creepiness of the story—which is not a ‘usual’ re-telling—keeps you intrigued and disturbed at the same time, and that works brilliantly! While the psychological abuse Belle had to endure for years puts readers between an angry and an emotional state, their mind constantly marvels at the legendary beast killing beautiful women—is that THE beast’s doing, though?—and the one who started the curse. Plot, atmosphere, characters, everything has a mysterious halo that can really keep you at the edge of your seat. Beware, once you reach the last page, you will be left craving for more!
A remarkable start of what looks and sounds like a unique, sinister manga. Totally enchanting! Ready for a journey like no other? Then venture yourself into the woods story at your own risk . . .
Beauty and the Beast NEVER get old!
I couldn’t agree more!
I always up for a Beauty and Beast retelling. This sounds fab.
Then you should give this one a go, it’s quite unique!
I just love this title too, its these catchy fairy tale titles that will always draw me in no matter what. Happy to see it work so well for you.
Same, I fall in love with this kind of titles all the time! Good thing there are those, like this one, that work great and surprise you as well ❤️
This really sounds good, I love how dark this sounds?
The darker the better, hehe ?
I like that this is not a “usual” retelling- now I’m more curious! and it sounds dark… I love that about it. Hoping this gets better and better as it goes… 🙂
Let’s say I would have never imagined for this tale to take such a sinister turn . . . It has a lot to offer, and I can’t wait to read more!
Oh my, this definitely sounds like a new take on the old story (never mind that it’s gorgeous artwork too!)
It sure is, and the artwork is beautiful, so it’s a winner!
A darker version of Beauty and the Beast with graphics sounds great.
I truly recommend it!
I love retelling and the darker the better. And yes, that artwork alone is already enough to fuel my curiousity. I’m glad you enjoyed it Silvia 🙂
And I’m glad I put this title under your radar, Vanessa ?
