How much is a life worth? I grew up in Colombia, the daughter of a wealthy drug lord. I lived a life of extravagance, until one day a drug run went horribly wrong and everything came crashing down around us. I was given away. A payment for a debt. The Gypsy Brothers Motorcycle Club became my new owners, and I did everything I could to survive. But falling in love with the man who owned me wasn't part of the plan . . .
Lili St. Germain is an author who has been recommended to me more than once, but it was just when Cartel came my way that the irresistible pull everyone was talking about truly kicked in. So glad it did!
You can’t classify Dornan as a hero or think of him as the guy you would fall for, but you can’t deny he’s really captivating either. If Mariana was confused about her desire for her captor, so was I. With who he is and what he does, how can you not find yourself compelled by him? Simple, Lili St. Germain has got some special skills when portraying bad guys. Those you’re suppose to hate? You’re definitely going to despise. The ones the author wants you to be confused about? You’re going to debate who needs therapy the most, you or them. Everyone is broken—although for different reasons—and the world you read here is full of violence and blood that can undoubtedly disturb you at times, but damn if it makes for a suspenseful and exciting story.
Dark, gritty and intense, three words that guarantee you a hell of a ride! I’m still thinking about it, and I’m impatiently waiting for the next instalment to come out . . .
So glad you picked this up, Silvia! I've been reading so many great things about this author, and your review definitely drives me towards picking it up myself!
I see you're reading that series too ! I keep reading very good reviews, I've got Seven sons, I guess I'll have to read it too someday soon. Great review !
Oh, I just read my first Lili St. Germain book this week, Silvia, and I thought it was very well done! Dark, yes, but still amazing 🙂 I'm adding this series to my TBR as well 🙂
I've had her rec'd to me too but not started them yet. Gah I know I need to. Dark, gritty and intense sounds pretty good to me.
Oooh this one sounds good too! I've heard of that author before, but haven't tried her stuff yet.
Really? That's great! I do love dark reads, so her books sound very appealing to me 😉
It is very good, Anna. I would definitely suggest you to go for it!
I'm really glad I decided to try this one, it was quite compelling and well delivered.
Gypsy Brothers might not be as dark as you'd like… but it was still pretty dark (for me;) )
I'm up for it anyway, those Gypsy Brothers sound too intriguing to pass 😉
It sounds like a really great author and I'm quite curious to try one of her book now. I'm glad you had a great time once again.
Hope you like her style, Melliane. My latest reads have all been very pleasant and some quite surprising, so I'm thrilled!
Glad you gave the author a try. Some times it really works out from the recs of others. 🙂
Reviews are supposed to give us the right 'push' to try something new, and when the read works out particularly well you definitely feel great 😉
Hot damn, Silvia!! I'm so glad you have St. Germain a shot. I've only read Seven Sons but I'm pretty sure I'll be binging on the rest of that series this month. And then I'm reading Cartel! I think you're right that St. Germain has that *something* and can make you feel exactly what she's wanting you to feel about a character or scene. Disturbing, yes. And I love your use of dark, gritty, and intense. Squee! Is it terrible that I'm so excited to read this?!?
Not at all, I can barely contain the excitement for the next instalment, so feel free to squee away with no shame whatsoever! 😉
