How much is a life worth? I grew up in Colombia, the daughter of a wealthy drug lord. I lived a life of extravagance, until one day a drug run went horribly wrong and everything came crashing down around us. I was given away. A payment for a debt. The Gypsy Brothers Motorcycle Club became my new owners, and I did everything I could to survive. But falling in love with the man who owned me wasn't part of the plan . . .

Lili St. Germain is an author who has been recommended to me more than once, but it was just when Cartel came my way that the irresistible pull everyone was talking about truly kicked in. So glad it did!

You can’t classify Dornan as a hero or think of him as the guy you would fall for, but you can’t deny he’s really captivating either. If Mariana was confused about her desire for her captor, so was I. With who he is and what he does, how can you not find yourself compelled by him? Simple, Lili St. Germain has got some special skills when portraying bad guys. Those you’re suppose to hate? You’re definitely going to despise. The ones the author wants you to be confused about? You’re going to debate who needs therapy the most, you or them. Everyone is broken—although for different reasons—and the world you read here is full of violence and blood that can undoubtedly disturb you at times, but damn if it makes for a suspenseful and exciting story.

Dark, gritty and intense, three words that guarantee you a hell of a ride! I’m still thinking about it, and I’m impatiently waiting for the next instalment to come out . . .

  1. So glad you picked this up, Silvia! I've been reading so many great things about this author, and your review definitely drives me towards picking it up myself!

  2. I see you're reading that series too ! I keep reading very good reviews, I've got Seven sons, I guess I'll have to read it too someday soon. Great review !

  3. Oh, I just read my first Lili St. Germain book this week, Silvia, and I thought it was very well done! Dark, yes, but still amazing 🙂 I'm adding this series to my TBR as well 🙂

Hot damn, Silvia!! I'm so glad you have St. Germain a shot. I've only read Seven Sons but I'm pretty sure I'll be binging on the rest of that series this month. And then I'm reading Cartel! I think you're right that St. Germain has that *something* and can make you feel exactly what she's wanting you to feel about a character or scene. Disturbing, yes. And I love your use of dark, gritty, and intense. Squee! Is it terrible that I'm so excited to read this?!?
