There’s lots of action going on through all the book and surely an interesting plot behind it all, but I honestly felt like everything was going too fast. I would have appreciated a bit of background instead of finding out just bits of info here and there during the reading. An introduction to the world created by the author would have definitely helped following everything smoothly.

As for the characters, despite being fascinating creatures, they don’t seem to have a proper development and I wasn’t convinced by any of them. The two main characters are already in a romantic relationship when the story begins, I don’t have a problem with that but I’m afraid I found their ‘I love you’ just something out of habit to say. They have big issues basically all caused by Daciana and her hiding things from Connell. Of course, she has to lie to protect her secrets and her family, but who wouldn’t be royally upset with a girl who constantly disappears without a word, doesn’t answer your calls and makes you freak out while she’s out who knows where when murders follow her? I don’t believe for a second someone would be so forgiving as Connell is and, even if he finally has a spark of real irritation half-way through the story, I still don’t buy his reactions.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t feel a connection with the characters and that’s a shame. I think this book has potential, though, and I’m sure that with a better character development and a more accurate background this story would have been a very great one.
