Long days at the law firm have utterly exhausted Zara Remington. Luckily she's been spending her nights with the gorgeous—and sinfully sexy—private investigator she met on a case. Strong, protective, and undeniably dangerous, Ryker makes her feel things she never dreamed possible. But Zara has a secret that she can't ever reveal, a secret that puts her job and her very life in jeopardy. And she can't confide in anyone, not even the man who's been sharing her bed . . .
Ryker Jones knows what it means to be lost. He's spent his entire life searching for his family and he won't rest until he finds them. The desire to be found, to be known—it's what he and his two blood brothers have in common and it's why they've opened up the Lost Bastards Investigative Services. But when a client shows up on their doorstep, asking for help, Ryker's life—and everything he believed to be true about his past—is up in the air and danger is around every corner. The one thing he knows is that he must protect the beautiful, irresistible woman who has come into his life at any cost . . .

If you, like me, haven’t read the Sin Brothers series, don’t worry because you can follow this spin-off with no problems. In fact, Zanetti does a good job presenting you some unusual characters and a catching plot, keeping the reader engaged while also making them question both events and characters.

I found the premise really interesting, and I wasn’t bothered by the fact that the main characters here already know each other and are in a relationship of some sort—although ‘relationship’ might sound like a too big of a word for Zara and Ryker—but I kept feeling something was off . . . Those two have an undeniable chemistry but, while reading their dialogues and steamy scenes, I just couldn’t click with them. There were also times when I felt things went too fast, or would be said/accepted too easily, and that may be because there’s too much going on. However, there was a nice dose of action and mystery that I liked, and turns I always appreciate in my reads.

Overall, I’m glad I read Deadly Silence. It was my first try with a Zanetti’s book and I actually want to find out more about her Blood Brothers series because it’s no typical romantic suspense, and you gotta like that.
