So, this week we have been asked to share not very popular opinions . . . Let me tell you, liking something or not is a matter of personal taste, as much as agreeing or disagreeing on a topic is a matter of personal views.
Having said that, here are a few confessions unpopular opinions of mine:
- I don’t think HEA is always necessary (that applies to books and movies);
- I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter books and I feel no need to (oops!);
- I’ve never cared about Doctor Who (DUN-DUN-DUN);
- I don’t get all the crazy love for Jennifer Lawrence (nothing personal, Jennifer).
I’m pretty sure many of you will disagree but, hey, variety is the spice of life 😉

I don't need HEA, but I definitely need an end to a book. Oh you definitely need to try the Potter books one day! Right? Right? RIGHT? LOL no but well they're fun. I don't know how I would feel if I discovered them now as I'm grown up. I never cared about Dr. Who either so I'm glad I'm not the only one. I tried an episode but well no. The same for Jennifer Lawrence.
Always interesting seeing these things. I need an HEA or at least a HFN. Just something to close it out. But I am with you on your others. Never touched Harry Potter or Doctor Who and good missing them. lol I'm not even sure who Jennifer is. *hides under rock a little more* lol
I don't need a HEA as long as the book finishes well. I like Dr. Who but several seasons doesn't really catch my interest, so I'm mixed on it lol
Glad we're on the same page, Melliane! 🙂 You wouldn't be the first to try and "push" me to read the Harry Potter series and still, I can't find it in me…LOL
I need a closure, I just don't feel like an happily ever after is always necessary. And I'm happy you enjoy this kind of posts 🙂

I guess since that's the idea behind a romance and I read mostly romance it's pretty much a must for me in those. But I would be okay with them in a non-romance I thing. But in romance doing things like killing the hero at the end or in the next couple's book is a huge no-no. I'll never read those romance authors. I really don't think they are romance authors if they do that.
I see your point and, as you know, I read lots of romance myself, so of course I prefer a HEA in those reads. I was being generic, I really think sometimes certain books and/or movies could be more spectacular without a happy ending.
I agree with Anna, if there's romance, I will always want a HEA, just to save my heart from pain. Harry Potter is amazing, but I may be too attached to it because I grew up along with it. Nope, read it. (ha, kidding, your choice). Haven't seen Doctor Who and I dislike all the rave about Jennifer. I like her in the movies but I think people exagerate in their praise. Oh well. 😀
LOL I find it hard but, if I ever find the motivation to read Harry Potter, I'll let you know. 🙂
I actually don't really like HEAs either. I mean, the girly girl in me likes them, because there's something satisfying about it, but I prefer the realistic approach of sacrifice. (If that makes sense)
A book is guaranteed to get a higher rating if it breaks my heart! For example, I recently finished Endsinger by Jay Kristoff, and it was probably less painful to read it than it would be to slam my hand in a door and then have someone punch me in the face. It upset me more than any book has ever upset me, but it was the best book I read all year!
OMG SOMEONE ELSE WHO HASN'T READ HP. *high fives* I don't really desire to read them either…I saw all the movies, and while I know they can't compare, I already know basically what happens. Why would I want to read the series when I know all the major spoilers?
I don't care about Doctor Who, either. I have absolutely no desire to see it despite everyone raving about it.
I do, however, love JLaw! I think she's beautiful and funny.
It does make sense and I do like HEAs actually, it's just that sometimes I think a different end could be more powerful (at least for some stories). Heartbreaking is not always bad, I agree it can have a huge impact on the reader, giving them many conflicting emotions and yet, at times leaving them quite satisfied.

*applauds* I like your opinions, Silvia, even if they're unpopular. I totally agree with you on the HEA. I won't hold it against you that you have no desire to read HP. I don't care about Doctor Who either although it's pretty popular in my household. And I don't have an opinion on Jennifer. 😉
