A rogue ruined . . .
He is the Killer Duke, accused of murdering Mara Lowe on the eve of her wedding. With no memory of that fateful night, Temple has reigned over the darkest of London's corners for twelve years, wealthy and powerful but beyond redemption. Until one night, Mara resurfaces, offering the one thing he's dreamed of . . . absolution.
A lady returned . . .
Mara planned never to return to the world from which she'd run but when her brother falls deep into debt at Temple's exclusive casino, she has no choice but to offer Temple a trade that ends in her returning to society and proving to the world what only she knows . . . that he is no killer.
A scandal revealed . . .
It's a fine trade, until Temple realizes that the lady—and her past—are more than they seem. It will take every bit of his strength to resist the pull of this mysterious, maddening woman who seems willing to risk everything . . . even true love.
I really wouldn’t have pegged Temple as the hero to swoon over—at least not that much—but I find myself completely reconsidering that now. With his destroyed reputation and a dark past constantly haunting him, Temple drew me into a tragic but totally captivating story that I adored reading about. How can someone be indifferent to a powerful sexual tension caused by a fantastic chemistry, but kept at bay—not so easily—by a strong desire of revenge? Temple and Mara have one of the most interesting stories to tell, and our heroine has certainly some serious explaining to do . . . Who will pay the price for redemption?
Another great addition to The Rules of Scoundrels series, perhaps with the most surprising of the epilogues. A real I-did-not-see-that-coming-and-I-loved-it revelation. If I was really looking forward to Chase’s story before, now I’m so eager to read it that I can barely contain the excitement!
Historical romance with mystery for the win, Silvia! I need this series. And hey, if Temple seemed to not be swoon-worthy, but ended up being so, that's all the better.
Great review 🙂 I hope you're having a fantastic week!

That was an excellent epilogue. I'd had a little niggle over that at some point but really was still pretty dang surprised too. Love when an author does that.
I love seeing the different covers by country. So different from ours here in the US!
Yes, yes you need it, Lexxie! Temple has always been a captivating character from the very beginning (who isn't in this series?), no doubt on that, but I really wasn't expecting to swoon over him so much…and I mean SO much!
I'm having a very good one, thanks! Hope yours is amazing 🙂
It was a superb one! I'm glad you and I are on the same page, Anna 😉
They are, aren't they? Covers for HR perhaps are those that differ in each country the most.
I love historical romances but I need to read more of them. I heard great things about this author and I really need to try her books. I'm glad you had a good time with it.
Yes..I love this series, heck I adore this author. I am so glad you enjoyed it Silvia!
Perhaps this series will encourage you to read more of this genre, Melliane 🙂
I like her writing style a lot and I already have her other series with me, YAY! 😀
It's always pleasant when an author can make you fall for a character you didn't see yourself falling for. I'm glad you enjoyed this one, Silvia. Yet another HR to add to my list of recs from you! 😉
It really is and you know I'm always happy to make your list grow, especially with HR 😉
