From her harrowing introduction in Darkhouse the spectre known as 'Creepy Clown Lady' has been a constant fixture in Perry Palomino's life. But beyond the horrid makeup and piercing stare lies Pippa a woman just like everyone else. Well not quite.
When Perry discovered Pippa's message to her and Dex on the EVP recordings she thought she'd heard the last of the old woman's message. She was wrong. In the novella Old Blood Pippa relays the tale of her troubled and tortured past revealing how an aspiring actress and loving mother fell into madness and how an unfathomable betrayal led to her untimely death. For Perry the repercussions of her message are life-shattering.
The moment I picked up this novella I knew I was going to embrace a very sad read, but I honestly couldn’t have imagined to find myself drawn into such a tragic scenario. The whole story Pippa tells is heartbreaking and it has left me with a deep sadness and lots of sympathy towards our Creepy Clown Lady.
We get to know a past that, despite its darkness, makes light over the present and helps us understand better the dynamics of a few fundamental events happened in Perry and Dex’s lives. Plus, we get to see some glimpses of a younger Dex, and that is something I wouldn’t have wanted to miss for the world.
I loved it! I think this is an instalment fans of the series shouldn’t underestimate and skip, but definitely read it right after On Demon Wings. You’ll be surprised to see how this novella not only clarifies things, but drives you crazy in love with EIT even more!
Oh lord, I bumped these up after your last review and here I sit and I still haven't read them. Fantastic review *kicks self*
I really enjoyed her Artists trilogy but haven't given these a go yet. On to the review pile they go!
isn't it wonderful to have a great novella when it's a series we love? I didn't know this one but it sounds intense.
That's why I basically posted the review, so you would remember of what an amazing series you have and shouldn't delay any further! 😉 Just so you know, more reviews of EIT are coming soon, hope you won't mind 😛
I haven't read her other series, but I heard good things about it and I will go with that, too, at some point. This one is extremely good, Anna!
It really is and this is a VERY intense series, indeed!
Oh I really enjoyed this too! Who knew that Creepy Clown Lady was so important to the series? Glad you enjoyed!
YAY for another EIT reader! 😀 Creepy Clown Lady has been really a revelation!
Glad you enjoyed this one Silvia 🙂 I haven't heard of this series but it looks good!
Chanzie @ Mean Who You Are.
It's been a while since I read Old Blood, but I really loved reading Pippa's backstory. I love EIT, and honestly I love anything Karina writes! Only one book left in EIT though, *sniffle* I don't want to say goodbye to this series. I love Perry and Dex too much! 🙂
This series is amazing, I strongly recommend it, Chanzie!
I'm so happy to hear from another EIT fan! Trust me, I know how you feel way too well…I'm already sniffing a lot and it saddens me that it is reaching the end, but I believe it's going to be Epic! Just what Dex and Perry are 🙂
I'm one of the few, I'm sure, who haven't read this series, Silvia! I have the first one though. I seriously need to move it up in priority, yeah? 😉
I can tell you this, EIT is a series that gets better and better—I mean BETTER!—with every instalment. So yeah, you should probably move it up in priority, especially because you reeeeally want to get to the OMG-this-is-awesome / I-cannot-believe-THAT-happened / sigh-sob-SIGH-SOB parts quite fast! 😉
