Lady Philippa Marbury is odd. The bespectacled, brilliant fifth daughter of the Marquess of Needham and Dolby cares more for books than balls, flora than fashion and science than the season. Nearly engaged to Lord Castleton, Pippa wants to explore the scandalous parts of London she's never seen before marriage. And she knows just who to ask: the tall, charming, quick-witted bookkeeper of The Fallen Angel, London's most notorious and coveted gaming hell, known only as Cross. Like any good scientist, Pippa's done her research and Cross's reputation makes him perfect for her scheme. She wants science without emotionโthe experience of ruination without the repercussions of ruination. And who better to provide her with the experience than this legendary man? But when this odd, unexpected female propositions Cross, it's more than tempting . . . and it will take everything he has to resist following his instinctsโand giving the lady precisely what she wants.
Strong, intelligent and fierce, Lady Philippa doesn’t take a no for an answer very well. Answers are what she seeks the most and anything or anyone can stop her from getting those. Well, Cross’ stubbornness reveals to be quite the challenge, but our heroine seems to emanate a certain charm she doesn’t know to possess, and that could be what plays to her advantage . . . She’s not perfect, she wears spectacles and she’s not the classic outstanding beauty of the ton. People find her odd, I personally find her refreshing and a geeky heroine to love! Of course, so does Cross. Those two have some amazing talks together that definitely increment the tension building, which is frustrating but oh, terribly good!
Teasing and tempting the entire time, this instalment was a pleasure to read and, as usual, I ended up being enthralled not just by the main couple but also by the others around them. I’m eager to see how things work out for each and everyone of those amazing scoundrels, so . . . Next!
I'm glad you ended up liking this book, I do like a good geeky heroine hehe. Lovely review Silvia!

I love this series. I love her female characters and well Cross was yummy.
Oh wow what a different cover! I love her books. Have you read her Love by Numbers ones? That's how I got hooked on her.
Did I read this one or not? eek, think not ๐ Cue UK? cover too
I think it's inevitable for me to love a geek heroine, hehe. Plus, when an author as Sarah MacLean has such great writing skills, you can't help but falling for the story!
I love it, too, and he really was! But then, is there one single character you can think of not to drool over (for a reason or another) in this series? ๐
Not yet, but the publisher also sent me that series to review, so I hope to start soon! I believe that once you enter in Sarah MacLean's world, you hardly want to get out… Hope you'll put your hands on this series, too, Anna!
Perhaps you didn't recognize it because this is the UK edition, but if you haven't read it at all, then I recommend it ๐
Oh it's nice to have 2 characters like that! I'm glad you had a good time with it. I heard a lot of great things about this author and I need to try her!
Hope you will, Melliane! I'm really eager to read her other series, too ๐
I love books with a great supporting cast! I'm glad you enjoyed this one so well, Silvia. An historical read is in my future…very near future. ๐
You should definitely start going wild with historical romances, Brandee! ๐
Ooooh this one sounds good! I probably would not have looked at it initially but your review makes it sound like quite a good read ๐
