In the first in Tessa Dare's captivating Castles Ever After series, a mysterious fortress is the setting for an unlikely love . . .
As the daughter of a famed author, Isolde Ophelia Goodnight grew up on tales of brave knights and fair maidens. She never doubted romance would be in her future, too. The storybooks offered endless possibilities.
And as she grew older, Izzy crossed them off. One by one by one.
Ugly duckling turned swan?
Abducted by handsome highwayman?
Rescued from drudgery by charming prince?

No, no, and . . . Heh.
Now Izzy’s given up yearning for romance. She’ll settle for a roof over her head. What fairy tales are left over for an impoverished twenty-six year-old woman who’s never even been kissed?
This one.

If you read the blurb, you get why this book might sound particularly appealing to a book lover right away. The fact it’s also an historical romance just makes it my cup of tea, and what a tasty one that was!

I heard talking about Tessa Dare’s books many times and always in a very good way, so I was really curious to see if her stories would reach my heart, too. Well, this one did and I’m happy to say I had more fun than I was expecting. I found really hard to put the book down and, before I knew it, I finished it with a big smile on my face. Izzy and Ransom are such a genuine, lovable match that you can’t help but rooting for them. They entertain the reader with laughs and swoons from beginning to end, although it’s not just the main characters who deliver a very enjoyable story, but everyone appearing in the scene. Or, better yet, a ‘fictional scene’.

Didn’t the last part just make you wonder? Good! Pick this book up to find out more, let the fairy tale atmosphere transport you into a world quite close to a book nerd, and simply have a great time.
