After reading Cursed in Shadow, the lovely novella between the first instalment and this one, I was really looking forward to meet Brock’s sister and see those two finally reunited. Unfortunately, it didn’t work as well as I hoped . . .
I definitely think the main problem here is the pace. Everything runs so fast that I didn’t have time to properly enjoy the events and, I have to admit, a ‘slow down’ escaped from my mouth quite frequently. I couldn’t connect with the characters and the so awaited brother and sister’s reunion was just too quick, same for their attachment to each other. It didn’t seem particularly believable, and I’m afraid the fast pace the author kept for the whole book didn’t let me be drawn into Landon and Mirhana falling for each other either. Too bad because there is also lots of action that makes you think of an exciting read, but in the end that wasn’t enough for me.
Anyway, I enjoyed other Cooper’s books, so this episode won’t stop me from reading her future works.

I'm glad that this one book won't keep you from enjoying Ms. Cooper's others, Silvia. I am sorry this one didn't work for you though.
Once in a while you inevitably end up finding a book that doesn't work well for you, but I won't put Andrea in a corner just for this episode. She has a lot of potential and I'll be curious to read more from her.
I'm sorry, too, but it won't definitely keep me from reading more of her works, which I know they can be very good (ex. Viking Fire)!

oh that's sad mainly when you expect more but I understand as well. When the pace is too fast and that you have a problem with the characters it's already too much. I'm sorry it wasn't for you.

As I see it, when the pace is too fast you don't get attached to the characters or even sympathize with them, and unfortunately this doesn't draw you into the read as it should.
Aw, I hate when that happens. I've read many books with the same problem. A book's pace must be just right to make the story flow smoothly and not appear rushed, especially in a romance. If the story is rushed then it definitely won't seem believable. Hopefully her next books will turn out better! 🙂
It's mostly the characters' behaviours that aren't believable, and that's bad because they all have lots of potential and charm. Hope so, too, Melissa 🙂
