This does not affect in any way my opinion of the book nor the content of my review.

Wiccan Gavenia Kingsgrave’s psychic gift, the ability to talk to the dead, comes with strings attached. As a Shepherd, she escorts them into the hereafter, but not all the souls want to cross over, and some can be downright vicious. When her latest case involves a heart-breaking hit-and-run victim, Gavenia is stressed to the max. The last thing she needs is a no-nonsense private detective on her tail, even if he is a handsome Irishman.
Former homicide detective Douglas O’Fallon possesses his own psychic gift, one he’s denied for years. Hired by a wealthy client to prove that Gavenia’s a con artist, he is sceptical of the witch’s claims she can speak to the dead. If he finds her gift as genuine, then he will be forced to accept his own. When their two cases intersect, opposites attract. But will they be able to set their differences aside long enough to outwit their foes–both the living and the dead?

A friend of mine forgot to eat because of how absorbed in this story she was. Does it sound exaggerated to you? Because, let me tell you, I forgot to cook and I had to be dragged to sleep. What do you say now? Trust me, I can’t believe it myself and yet, it really happened. This book it’s an addiction, you keep telling “just one more chapter” and soon you realise you have reached the end. (Noooo!)

There’s something magic in the whole story, but I would say that the main characters—and an awesome parrot!—are the reason why this is such a compelling book. They have strong, fascinating personalities and their dark backgrounds are something that just make them even more captivating. Gavenia and Doug are not the classic ‘beauty stereotype’ you would expect to find in a Paranormal Romance, they’re not perfect but quite simple and this is exactly what makes them particularly believable. I could almost see those two around and I genuinely felt like everything was real and not just a story on paper. Lots of kudos to the author for that!

Tangled Souls gave me an amazing time with exciting discoveries, enthralling but also scary gifts, funny and flirting (on occasion) dialogues and a touching romance. I would recommend grabbing a copy now and start testing your faith . . .

  1. Jessica@a GREAT read

OOh nice review! Will have to get to this one sometime! I loooved Jana's Demon Trappers series, looking forward to her Briar Rose release that's in my TBR mountain, and this one did catch my interest! Great review!

  2. I have Briar Rose ready to be read, but this one grabbed my attention more because it's adult and I wanted to see how Jana did with something non YA. She obviously did amazingly well! 🙂

You should check my interview with Jana as well, there's an International giveaway running with it that you might find really of your liking, Jessica! 😉

Ooo, it's a stand-alone. I like that. And the cover is amazingly beautiful. Sounds like a great read with a blend of everything. 🙂 Thank you!
