‘I am a Duke. I’m not asking you to marry me. I am offering to marry you. It’s a different thing entirely.’
When the Duke of Ashbury returns from war scarred, he realises he needs an heir—which means he needs a wife! When Emma Gladstone, a vicar's daughter turned seamstress visits wearing a wedding dress, he decides on the spot that she'll do.
His terms are simple:
- They will be husband and wife by night only.
- No lights, no kissing.
- No questions about his battle scars.
- Last, and most importantly . . . Once she's pregnant with his heir, they need never share a bed again.
But Emma is no pushover. She has secrets and some rules of her own:
- They will have dinner together every evening.
- With conversation.
- And teasing.
- Last, and most importantly . . . Once she's seen the man beneath the scars, he can't stop her from falling in love . . .
When a girl meets a Duke, their marriage breaks all the rules . . .

If you ever wondered how Beauty and the Beast would play in a historical romance novel—with no fantasy elements at all—stop tormenting yourself and go grab this book. You won’t just get your answer, you also won’t stop smiling even after you finished the read!

The Duchess Deal is such an enchanting book that I found myself finishing it in a matter of hours. From the very first page it seems things go quite fast, but the story has that fairy-tale halo all around that just works with this kind of pace, and it didn’t bother me a bit. Of course, all the amazing, funny banters, and the sexual tension quickly escalating in blazing nights together are what keep your nose in their business the book. The deal these two strike turns to be a challenge for them both, making them face issues they have with themselves, especially the Duke of Ashbury. Now, who doesn’t love a scarred hero? And who wouldn’t want to come to his rescue? Fair warning, when you meet THIS Duke, your heart will be the one that needs saving . . .

Amusing, seductive and dreamy, a totally recommended book for lovers of this genre. Do not hesitate and simply let Tessa Dare tell you a story, her characters will take it from there and do the rest!
