Kate Ramsey is at the top of her game.
She’s the hot new recruit at the most prestigious research institute in Germany, and she’s determined to live up to the hype—even if it means working day and night. Stress relief comes in the form of a no-nonsense affair with her neighbour, who also happens to be the director of the institute. Who says sex should be anything more than a contract between two people who have other things on their mind?
So when Tom Baker saunters into her life, Kate is understandably upset to see this well-oiled machine splutter and seize. Tom is young and smart, and far too pretty for his own good. Kate can’t help but be drawn to him, even if giving in to the attraction would mean risking everything she’s worked for.
I discovered this book thanks to a review of another blogger and I got instantly curious about it. So, when the author contacted me asking if I wanted to review her novel, I couldn’t really resist. Now I’m not just happy I read it, I also encourage other readers to try this book because it’s not just good but original, too!
Who said smart people can’t be sexy as well? I didn’t and, if you did, this novel will prove you wrong. But it won’t simply make you swoon over scientists, it will crack a smile up on your face more often that you think. I loved that, and I really liked the fact that each character had a different attitude that attracted me in a way or another. What they all have in common, though, is the same love for science, and one of the beauties of this book is that you don’t necessarily have to be into lab language to follow what is being said or done. Verity Jacob’s writing is very fluent and it makes all sound fascinating, so much that you will find yourself captivated by everything that is going on. Yes, there is much more than just romance in the air . . .
In all honesty, I thought I was going to enjoy this book but I ended up loving it instead. Geeky, fun and sexy, an explosive mix that makes this a great debut novel!
