They called me the Bitch Queen, the she-wolf, because I murdered a man and exiled my king the night before they crowned me.
Born under the crumbling towers of Oren-yaro, Queen Talyien was the shining jewel and legacy of the bloody War of the Wolves, which nearly tore her nation apart. But her arranged marriage with the son of a rival clan should herald peaceful days to come.
However, her fiancé’s sudden departure before their reign begins puts a quick end to those dreams, and the kingdom is fractured beyond repair.
Years later, Talyien receives a message, one that will send her across the sea. What’s meant to be an effort at reconciling the past becomes an assassination attempt. Stranded in a land she doesn’t know, with no idea whom she can trust, Talyien will have to embrace her namesake.
A wolf of Oren-yaro is not tamed.
I knew I needed to read this book the moment my eyes landed on: They call me the Bitch Queen, the she-wolf, because I murdered a man and exiled my king the night before they crowned me. And, boy, wasn’t my instinct right again?
Politics, secrets, complex characters you question as much as their motives, and a very adventurous journey make this a riveting book. The pace works like magic, and so does the world-building together with the character development. Everything is under Queen Talyien’s point of view and, despite her flaws—we all have some—she shows a strength too many tend to underestimate. A piece of advice, never try to tame a wolf of Oren-Yaro, you will regret that . . . As if this wasn’t already enough to grab the reader’s attention, the fascinating culture is priceless, something that kinda makes you feel like everything is real in a way. Do not even make me start with the food, so vividly described that it’s like I can taste its deliciousness—feed me, please!
A unique, gripping epic fantasy book I truly recommend to lovers of this genre. I’m definitely waiting for the next instalment and more twists—oh yes, Villoso has plenty of them for her readers!
AHHH THIS SOUNDS AMAZING! When I saw the cover is kinda reminded me of Boudica. I don’t know why.
I like when there are illustrations like that on a fantasy cover, and this book is awesome, Stephanie, I really recommend it!!
I think this sounds really good. Queen Talyien sounds like a character that I would enjoy and root for.
She is a great character, and the setting is so interesting!

Now *THAT* is how you start a blurb! Epic is kind of an understatement with this book — it sounds fantastic and oh boy is Talyien a force to be reckoned with!
It’s hard not to be drawn into this epic adventure from that line, right? This book was such a great discovery, I really encourage everyone into this genre to give it a go!
