The only place Kellan has ever felt at home is on stage. Gripping his guitar in a darkened bar, he can forget his painful past. These days his life revolves around his music and his band mates, and that's the way he likes it. And then one woman changes everything . . .
Kiera is the kind of girl Kellan has no business wanting—she's smart, sweet, and dating his best friend. Certain he could never be worthy of her love, he hides his growing attraction . . . until Kiera's own tormented heart hints that his feelings might not be one-sided. Now, no matter the consequences, Kellan is sure of one thing: he won't let Kiera go without a fight.
I didn’t read the first instalment in the series so I was completely clueless about the events, and I really didn’t know what to expect from the whole read. Was I going to get involved? Would I like this Kellan guy? Could this book make me an emotional wreck? The answer is one and the same: TOTALLY.
Kellan Kyle’s point of view makes for a roller-coaster of emotions . . . The read is dreamy but also painful and devastating, it strongly hits readers with every emotion Kellan feels and makes them fall even harder for him. He’s a gorgeous guy who deserves just good things—mostly love—and that’s why I got so frustrated with Kiera and her behaviour. She’s so naive and selfish that I’m pretty sure reading her POV would have just made me want to slap her more. I couldn’t stand her, but I loved the book thanks to Kellan and his bandmates, too. They cracked me up many times, they certainly entertained me and I always eagerly waited for them to appear.
New or not to this series, I think New Adult readers should grab a copy of this book and let it captivate them. Kellan Kyle guarantees a great time and so the other D-bags members!
It's a series that really, really tempts me, and your review makes it worse because I do have to clean that e-reader – well, I'll find a way 😉
I just love that cover. It's been on my wishlist for a while. Hopefully one day.
Nice to see you enjoyed it so much even with starting with this book. 🙂 Cool! Thank you.
Oh I should say to my friend that there are some novellas! She loved the series too.
Oooh I love it when a series can be read out-of-order and still be awesome 🙂
Great review!
Cora @ Tea Party Princess
I see what you mean, but not every girl at that age behaves like her (thankfully). I think it's a character trait and it's one I personally can't stand. Anyway, Kellan and his bandmates surely saved the read. 😉
Hope you will enjoy it, Brandee!
I can't say I'm sorry about that 😛
That man cover entices a reader, that's for sure! 😉
I can definitely say that I'm glad I didn't turn down the opportunity to read/review this book. 🙂
As a matter of fact, this is a novel. The book is 545 pages long, and they make for a very emotional journey . . .
That is great, isn't it? I always prefer reading everything in order, but this works very well as a stand-alone and I enjoyed every page!
Oh I thought it was one because it's noted 1.5
The number leads to think as such, doesn't it? But it's a novel in which the reader has a chance to dig deeper into the story. Reading everything under Kellan's pov can clear some events already happened and/or make you see those under a different light. If your friend is into this series, she would probably really like to read this 🙂
You evil temptress ! 😉
Sigh, you know I just LOVE this term of endearment 😉
