The end of the 19th century—a vampire's wife is murdered, and the detective known as the "cage user" is called in to solve the crime. But there's more to the detective and the curtained birdcage he carries . . . after all, when solving a case involving a monster, it might just take one to know one!
As a reader who loves vampire stories, and enjoys mystery all around, this manga looked appealing right away. Boy, if my instinct was right! Just like the sharp intuitions of the peculiar detectives in here . . .
Specialized in demon-related cases, Tsugaru Shinuchi and Aya Rindo are called to solve the murder of a wealthy lady vampire who was a human ally. Imagine a world where demons and humans coexist, and vampire allies are helpful in the town where the murder takes place. Killing them can’t be good, right? So who is behind this, and what’s their motive? This is something that only the most unusual detectives ever can reveal. Their quirkiness and their own mysterious halo make you really want to know their backstories, while their smart remarks and witty dialogues keep your attention alive all the time. Who said analysing clues can’t be fun? Ask the “cage user” . . .
A lovely art style suiting atmosphere and characters really well, a quirky team, and an interesting story ending with quite the cliffhanger. Fans of murder mysteries with Sherlock Holmes’ vibes should grab this volume—and the next one—at a vampire speed!
Everything about this speaks to me. Demons, vampires, mystery. Love it!
What’s not to like, am I right? ?
This is a really interesting perspective on vampires — and that’s hard to do because sometime I feel there’s nothing new left to vampires stories. Great review!
And yet, there’s a lot that can be explored. Who knows, even things we think we have notion of might prove to be ‘wrong’ . . .
This sounds like such a fun story! I am glad that the art fit the story as well.
Lots of laughs are assured! I like when we get that together with an intriguing case, and the art sure fits the atmosphere in here.
I want more manga these days so I should consider this one. It looks good!
I’m so glad to hear that, Melliane! Manga are truly wonderful, I’ve been reading them since I was in middle school (so, for a loooong time) and it’s a kind of read I truly recommend ❤️
Ooh what’s in the cage? The cover art seems to give a hint… oh my! I love the 19th century setting too0 sounds like it oozes atmosphere!
That cage sure is something . . . unique! The atmosphere is great, and I personally love a setting like this!
