COLE
I push her buttons. I want to push them in the good way. Dirty, up-against-the-wall, my-hand-in-her-pants kind of way. But that’s not possible, because I’m dark and she’s light, and we both know it. So I push her buttons in the bad way, making her hate me.
HAILEY
If a genie granted me three wishes, I’d ask for Cole Parker to never look at me again, that I’d forget the dark promise in his eyes, and that just once, before he vanished from my life completely, that he’d push me up against a wall and fuck me. Then I’d go wash my mouth out with soap.

I usually enjoy reading about love-hate relationships, but I thought this didn’t fall under that category quite well. There’s a big attraction the main characters can’t deny and they quickly turn their teasing into action, but I’m afraid the hate is not very strong. When Hailey brings up the ‘hate’, it doesn’t really register like that and Cole seems to push her buttons more to get in her pants rather than making her hate him. Also, because we don’t get to know much about Cole—besides the fact that he’s taking care of a mess Hailey’s sister has created with a certain scandal—he constantly remains a very enigmatic character. Although I love a bit of a mystery, I felt like in this case too much was missing and I didn’t completely lust for Cole.

That being said, it was a fast read with an interesting plot and an ending that definitely left me wanting to read the second part. So guess what I’m going to do next?

It sounds like a quick read even if it's more. I hope the next one will be better though

  2. Yeah, I really couldn't see that at all. Still, I found myself curious about the story especially because of the cliffhanger in here . . . The serial is all out if you wanna have a look, Anna 🙂
