It's been a year since Kayla Sutton walked away from Gage Channing, the man who blackmailed her into sexual slavery. Now he's back, and so is Ian Kaplan, Kayla's one-time lover from her college days. Both men want her, but only one holds the power to make her submit—to her own dark desires and to the truth she still denies, even to herself. But Gage's jealousy is his worst enemy, and when he thinks Kayla has chosen Ian, he sets in motion a drastic plan to claim what's his. Only Kayla never expects him to infiltrate her heart so effortlessly; and she never dreamed there would come a day when he wouldn't want her—when the mere sight of her turns him away in disgust. He believes she’s committed the ultimate sin, but will she use his mistake to finally escape the cage of his obsession? Or will she do whatever it takes to make him see he can entrust his heart to her . . . just as she's already lost the core of her being to him?
I devoured the book in one sitting, and I couldn’t help but keep grinning afterwards. I loved every turn Gemma James came up with and I loved how she kept the dark as the main element of the story the whole time, from the very first book.
Being able to dig deeper and find out what’s behind Gage’s cruelty just helped me like him even more. I’m a lost cause perhaps, but he’s a very strong character who dominates the scene and he’s twisted as much as a character in a dark erotica story should be. So, from a lover of this genre, I think the author did a great job with him. Not that she didn’t do well with everyone, but Gage is particular, hence the special mention. Sometimes it has been hard to ‘justify’ his actions, but in the end he has always been the one who kept my attention alive the most and it’s evident that while he was playing with Kayla, he was also making his move with the reader . . . Well played Gage, well played.
I totally recommend The Devil’s Kiss Trilogy before putting your hands on this final instalment, otherwise it would lose its emotional impact. And when I say I recommend it, I mean go grab your copy right away and start a beautiful read, Gemma James won’t disappoint you at all!
Wow, sounds like you love this book and the trilogy. Adding book one to my list. I want to know what drives Gage..LOL
You think? LOL I'm happy you added it, Kimberly! I read each book separately but The Devil's Kiss Trilogy contains book #1, #2 & #3 and, besides being a fast read, it's also very addictive… Just sayin' 😉
Thanks for the fantastic review! You so GET my book, lol. I'm glad I was able to keep it dark all the way through. I feel the fourth installment isn't as dark as the rest, so I'm glad to know it still does the job. 🙂
I take THAT as a very great compliment, thank you!! 🙂
You totally succeeded! Of course, someone something has inevitably changed still, the whole story keeps its darkest side and so does our wondrous devil! 😉 I really loved what you came up with and, as I told you many times, your writing is gorgeous. Thanks again for the wonderful time and also *starts emotional music in the background* for the mention in the acknowledgements! <3
You guys deserved that mention! You've been there from the beginning. I appreciate everything you guys do. 🙂
Aww, we just wish the best for you because yes, you totally deserve it! x
Wow… this sounds like a great series… I think I might have to give it a crack!! Great review… I think I'd like Gage… look at him on that over!!
I hope you do, Naomi and Gage is quite… Let's say difficult, but he has his devil's charm and, as you know, I always fall for the dark ones! 😉
